Maggie began having seizures at 6 weeks old. Though we have ZERO answers on the whys, Maggie deals with global developmental delays due to her severe and catastrophic epilepsy. by 4 1/2 months old, we were told she probably wouldn't live very long. We exhausted the options Western Medicine had to offer. Maggie was on 4 AED at once, failing 6 total….these seizures meds are terrible, they are meds that have much higher street value and create psychoses far worse than anything we have ever seen with cannabis. She essentially didn't have hope of finding a seizure med that would work.
When she was a mere 17 months old, we relocated to Colorado to get Maggie access to cannabis oil. Now, at 4 years old, there is no doubt she would not be alive today, had we not gotten her access to this valuable medicine. Prior to starting her on cannabis, she was having over 500 seizures of some sort. She just was a shell of a body.
Thank goodness our story didn't end here. Over the past 2 1/2 years, Maggie has been able to come out of her shell. We’ve been able to meet her and get to know her personality. Its not just the seizure control. Her tone and physical strength has increased. Her digestion has improved drastically. She has found ways to communicate her needs with us and other caregivers. And, as far as seizures, they have decreased by about 95%. Any given day, she is only having 5-30. Though she is still a ways away from being “typical”, she attends preschool and enjoys swimming and being outside like other kids her age. Her quality of life has improved in ways we never could have imagined and we are forever grateful for the valuable plant of cannabis.
